Cleveland home technology

After a year of reviewing dozens of PC gaming mice, keyboards, and other goodies, find out which ones have taken a permanent place alongside my gaming PCs as "weapons of choice".

Without further adieu, here are a few of my favorite things-particularly, some of my favorite PC gaming gear from 2011-and possibly some from 2010 that still endure as favorites. (You can also consider this a gift guide if you have a PC gamer on your list.)

Best Headset of 2011-CM Storm Sirus 5.1This very comfortable headset may not offer quite as many bells and whistles as some, but it still sounds excellent and boasts some of the best ergonomics and design I've had the pleasure to experience. The CM Storm Sirus 5.1 is my hands-down favorite PC gaming headset from 2011.

Also still a favorite: The Logitech G930 Wireless is still one of my favorite headsets, pairing excellent ergonomics and design with an extensive feature set and wireless functionality.

Best Mobile Headset-NOX Audio SpecialistThe NOX Audio Specialist is an enduring favorite primarily for mobile use, which includes gaming, listening to music, Skyping, watching movies, etc. 9 Wireless. Although the Albino isn't wireless, I don't miss having to change batteries-and aside from that difference (and an improved 6400DPI sensor), the Albino is virtually identical to its cordless older brother.

Be on the lookout for the Cyborg RAT7 MMO version of this mouse in early 2012. (I expect the addition of some extra buttons threaten to oust the currently entrenched Albino from my desktop.)

Best mobile gaming mouse-CM Storm SpawnPut another one in the win column for gaming peripheral upstart CM Storm. The CM Storm Spawn is a continued favorite for its portability, rubberized, comfortable grip, and great performance. It doesn't do well on bright surfaces, but aside from that it's still my favored mouse for taking on the road (along with the NOX Audio Specialist headset.)

Best Gaming Keyboard-Razer BlackWidow Ultimate

The Razer BlackWidow won me over with its clickity-clackety mechanical precision and nearly perfect feature set, and I still think I actually type slightly better on it than a standard keyboard. Toss in a USB port, backlighting, and the macro-capable keys and you'll see why this keyboard is still my favorite. If you don't like the noisy keys, consider the recently released "Razer BlackWidow Stealth" which is the same keyboard but with quieter keys.

Best Speedpad--Razer NostromoOK, admittedly the Nostromo is the only speedpad I've reviewed, but I still loving having the thing on my desk. It's a great gaming companion, fully programmable, and its blue backlighting even matches the Razer BlackWidow Ultimate.

Coolest new peripheral-Madcatz Gaming Lights

Arguably the most innovative yet most frivolous of any PC gaming peripheral, the Mad Catz gaming lights are also one of the coolest. These lights essentially react and complement any game by splashing color across your walls-a bright explosion on-screen, for example, will be accompanied by a fiery splash of color across the walls behind your monitor (or wherever you've placed the lights). You can even create your own 'programs' for the lights and use them to add a dance-club style lightshow to sol republic accompany audio playback via Windows Media player.

Useless? Pretty much. Cool? Very-which makes them a perfect gift for a PC gamer because it's something a gamer will appreciated but may not be too inclined sol republic tracks hd to buy for themselves. Watch the video to see them in action.
